SYNOPSIS Nosferatu:
“Nosferatu” weaves a chilling narrative of obsession, centering on a tormented young woman and a terrifying vampire who becomes entranced by her, unleashing a wave of terror.
This forthcoming American gothic horror film, helmed and penned by Robert Eggers, stars Bill Skarsgård in the role of the legendary vampire. It is a contemporary reinterpretation of the 1922 German Expressionist classic, which itself is a creative adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” from 1897, and follows the 1979 film “Nosferatu the Vampyre” as its second remake.
The project was initiated in 2015 after Eggers made his mark with “The Witch.” Although it was originally planned as his next project, Eggers opted to direct “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman,” delaying “Nosferatu.” Anya Taylor-Joy was initially cast but had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts. In September 2022, Bill Skarsgård and Lily-Rose Depp were confirmed as the leads, with Nicholas Hoult joining shortly thereafter, and the complete cast finalized in early 2023. Most of the filming occurred in Prague from February to May 2023.
